An estimated 8.8% (996,000) black children under age 18 have activity limitations compared to 6.4% of white children of the same age (3.6 million).
For children in families with incomes under $10,000 annually, 11.1% (779,000) have activity limitations. For those children in families receiving $10,000 to $19,999 annually, 8.4% (850,000) have limitations. An estimated 6.5% (936,000) children in families with incomes of between $20,000 and $34,999 have limitations. Finally, children in families with incomes of $35,000 or more, 5.3% (1.5 million) have limitations.
As family income rises, the percentage of those under age 18 with activity limitations goes down.
