Abstract:
This paper describes modification of a foldable manual attendant-controlled wheelchair which was already developed. The modification about comfort to sit and ride on it was accomplished. The seat was changed from a sling to a plate. A mechanism absorbing vibration was put in the new wheelchair. An elastic rubber made by plastic absorbed vibration. This mechanism was easy to maintain and capable to change the elastic rubber according to favorite of the user. The weight of the wheelchair was 11.7kg. The prototype of wheelchair with and without the mechanism absorbing vibration and a regular wheelchair experimented with falling from 8cm curb. The result of attenuation rate showed that the mechanism efficiently absorbed the impact. The prototype without the mechanism caused bigger impact than the regular wheelchair. This meant that the mechanism absorbing vibration was efficacious for the prototype very much.
