Abstract:
This paper describes a result of field tests with a developed stair aid which hang and move a person. The field tests of the device included hearing usability, problems of the hard wear like vibration and noise and problems of the soft wear like adaptation to the wheelchair or the sling. A house used as the first trial has low ceiling at stairs. The height of the track was only 1500mm. Therefore, transportation with hanging a wheelchair was gave up and hanging a client with sling seat was attempted. This device resulted big reduction of care giving loads. A result of the evaluation of its use showed that the switch of the remote controller was difficult to push and that the moving speed was too slow. There was no problem of the noise nor vibration. Two points were required modification, one was about that the attachment between the strap and the main part was difficult to use the other was about that a pipe was in front of the face of the client.
