Abstract:
This emulator is a personal computer input device intended for the peoples with disabilities who can't use a standard keyboard ( muscular dystrophies with limited mobility of fingers and cerebral palsies incapable of sophisticated movements etc.). It applies Morse codes for input of characters. Each character is expressed by a combination of dot and dashes(e.g. "
-" for "a") and is entered by pressing the "input" key. And this emulator depends on display-based method. The characters which continues to the inputted codes are displayed on the small display. The user can make sure which code should be chose to input desired character.Three modes to input Japanese kana characters, alphabet and computer control keys are prepared. This emulator is tested by cerebral palsied patient and muscular dystrophies patient whether the user can find desired characters and change these modes with no confusion. And the emulator is evaluated be useful.
