Abstract
In this paper, a survey of the Reform-Helper system is reported. The aim of the system is to help the elderly with the reformation of their houses depending upon their physical conditions. It was started by the Ministry of Health and Welfare in 1993, and so several years have passed since it was enforced.
In order to grasp the status of it, the authors make a questionnaire and mail it to reform-helpers. In the questionnaire, the reform-helpers are asked several questions, such as their occupations, their careers as reform-helpers, and their reference books. Questions about the status of the house-reformation are also asked, such as the reformed parts of these houses. And the questionnaire request them to write their thoughts about the Reform-Helper system and the troubles they have met so far.
The answers to the questionnaire are gathered and analyzed statistically. As a result, it is clear that reform-helpers have a lot of problems. Especially, they have many problems related to the cost and the information of the house-reformation. The authors, therefore, indicate that the Reform-Helper system itself has many problems and must be improved in the near future. This survey is very useful in grasping the status of the Reform-Helper system today.
