Abstract
In this paper, a survey of the Reform-Helper system is reported. The aim of the system is to help the elderly with the reformation of their houses depending upon their physical conditions. It was started by the Ministry of Health and Welfare in 1993, and so several years have passed since it was enforced.
The relationships between the reform-helpers' occupations and their approaches or careers are surveyed. The authors classify the reform-helpers' occupations into four groups, that is, those related to social welfare, medical service, architectures, and others. They try to find differences in their careers as reform-helpers and in their approaches to breach the environmental barriers of these houses. Thirty points are raised where the reform-helpers should take care before they advise the elderly. And the reform-helpers are asked if they would confirm those points before visiting.
As a result, reform-helpers classified as architectures visit most times before they advise. And it is clear that those classified as medical service have a tendency to make sure of the surroundings before the reformations.
