Abstract:
The purpose of the special interest group (SIG) of self-helping instrument is to educate people, especially members, to understand what is self-helping instrument through seminars. Our SIG is the oldest SIG in the Association of Rehabilitation Engineering, and more than 11 years have been already past from the 1st seminar. The group has always about 60 members. Up to now, we have had 15 seminars, typically, twice a year. However, self-helping instruments have been often neglected, although it is important in the actual life. From now on, we must consider the characteristics of each disability and that of each instrument.
