Abstract:
So far, elder people and disabled people have been used chairs to put on/off their shoes or to across steps at the entrance. However, they have often problems, such as, that edge of the chair becomes obstacle to change position on the chair, or that there is not enough space to put hands on the chair, etc. Here, a new assistive device named "Rakuchin (comfortable) Sheet" has been developed. The sheet has a few advantages. (1) One can sit down on the sheet without change his/her orientation to avoid edges. (2) He or she can easily change the position since the sheet has wide space on its top. (3) Actions, such as, "sit down", "stand up", "put on/off shoes" are stabilized since one can sustain the body by putting his/her hand on the sheet. (4) The sheet fits to the corner shape in the entrance. (5) The sheet has enough weight (13.5 kg) to be stable. (6) It has a shoebox. Thus, one can reduce time required to go out/enter the entrance.
