Abstract:
This paper describes introduction of transferring device SIG of Rehabilitation Engineering Society of Japan and categorization of transferring devices. The transferring device SIG was newly established from a committee. An assistive technology to adapt and select a suitable transferring device is very important. The purpose of this SIG is to identify and spread this technology. They published a book about it so far. Transferring device is categorized into overhead type, fixed type and wheeled type. The ceiling type is furthermore categorized into fixed-to-ceiling track type and fixed-to-frame track type, linear mobility type and plane mobility type, and portable type. The fixed type is categorized into portable type, bathing use type and bedside type. The wheeled type is categorized into manually operated hydraulic type and electric powered type. Sling is categorized into universal type, sheet type, belt type and special type. The universal type is categorized into head-support type and non-head-support type, legs-supported-separately type and legs-supported-together type, and rest room use type. Additionally, some typical transferring devices are introduced in it.
