Abstract:
This paper describes two cases with persons with mixed type cerebral palsy to be provided seating systems with control of lower extremities' position. In the production process of the seating systems, therapists identified the purpose of the systems and evaluate the environment and the caregivers at the first step. Evaluations of the two persons with disabilities were accomplished in lying position. Then, they were evaluated in sitting position. The evaluations in the sitting position required to make sure influences of positions of the pelvis and the lower extremities to the head and the trunk. Then, pre-evaluations to estimate effects of seating systems were performed. In the evaluation, to utilize simulator like the KISS simulator was useful. It was important ,in the adaptation process, to stabilize the posture by wide support plane and to make position that inhibit abnormal movement patterns, which were observed when the patients were in some actives. Additionally, necessity of the mechanisms that can change the position in response to the activities was indicated.
