Abstract:
In the Rehabilitation Engineering Society of Japan, RESJA, those who are interested in a certain field meet together and organize a specialized group called SIG, Special Interest Group. In this report, the author introduces the SIG of wheelchairs. That is, the Introduction of the SIG, the purpose and nowadays ability of the SIG, the latest information of the SIG, and the schedule of the SIG in the near future. In this report, there raises four major problems related to wheelchairs. That is, the problems related to the market of wheelchairs, related to the companies supplying them and their levels of total technology, related to R & D organizations of them and lack of researchers and budgets, and related to the information of them are raised. It is announced that the SIG was organized in order to solve the problems. And so, the SIG researches to find a better way to arrange wheelchairs and holds institutes to illustrate it. And the SIG surveys the regulations of JIS or those of ISO. Modular type wheelchairs and ROHO cushions are introduced as the latest information.
