Abstract:
In the Rehabilitation Engineering Society of Japan, RESJA, those who are interested in a certain field meet together and organize a specialized group called SIG, Special Interest Group. In this report, the SIG of wheelchairs introduces the information of the regulation of JIS and ISO. The author mentions that the merits of the standardization and the regulation are to make the cost down and to assure the safeties for the users and to make the productions have changeabilities. The author mentions that manual wheelchairs and powered wheelchairs are standardized in JIS, Japanese Industrial Standard. On the other hand, he reports that twenty-seven regulations are standardized or being studied in ISO, International Standard Organization. And he explains that domestic organizations related to wheelchairs are cooperating each other and making a network to construct the system in order to evaluate wheelchairs.
