Abstract:
In this paper, a therapy treatment chair for persons with severe physical and mental disabilities is reported. This chair helps to control extraordinary muscle tonuses. The result of a child who used the chair for three years is also reported. The user is in the third grade of a high school and has a severe physical and mental disability. He has irritability and makes an extension pattern when he receives extra stimuli. The author makes a molded chair seat of mesh plastic by himself. He equips the chair with a removable U headrest. And also, he equips it with wheels belted by tubes to give slight up-and-down movements. After using it, the child can control muscle tonuses more easily than he did in the first grade of a high school. On the other hand, muscle tonuses in the lower limbs has increased. This paper might be useful when persons with epitonic bodies are trained to control extraordinary muscle tonuses.
