Abstract:
The authors have been producing molded seating systems. In this paper, a wheelchair frame produced by their company is reported. It is a tilting frame which can be folded up and easily removed from the seat. It consists of a fixed frame under the seat and a wheelchair base frame. It can be folded up as a standard wheelchair. The tilting angle is changeable from four to thirty-nine degrees. They put it through four endurance tests. That is, they test it on the road, on the concrete block, on the rugged path, and in the park on condition that it is weighed at one hundred and five kilograms and runs four kilometers a day. As a result, they find some problems, such as the pipes of the backrest are bent. They reinforce the mechanism of the backrest to solve the problems and so it has no disorder after a ninety kilometer running test. After using it, three persons with cerebral palsy find it very useful because it allows them to leave the house easier and makes transportation.
