Abstract:
In this paper, a competitive high performance sit-ski developed for the Nagano Paralympic Games is reported. The seat and the frame of the sit-ski is developed to lead the best glide. A suspension mechanism and a shock absorber are researched and developed to make them lighter. The authors presume that a mechanism consisting of four links stroking forward is the best suspension in total performance. And they make a comparison between the suspension mechanism and that of the U.S.A. or Germany. They also compare Japanese shock absorbers with those of both countries. Based on the comparisons, they make a new trapezium-shaped frame using the suspension mechanism consisting of four links, and a shock absorber, consisting of iron springs. And they put them through some running tests. After those tests, they improve some points and decide the last version of the sit-ski.
