Abstract:
An arising sensor has been introduced in the ward of the department of rehabilitation of Fuchu Hospital to prevent patients with cerebrovascular disease from tumbling at bedside. The sensor, which is a photosensor, was installed on the ceiling and a pole. When a patient wakes up on the bed in the sensing area, the sensor transmits signal to the nurse station. The sensing system actually prevented 3 patients from tumbling from bed, although these patients and one another patient tumbled at the bedside before installing sensors.
