Abstract:
Physical pressure exclusion is one of the means to prevent pressure sores. They measured pressure distribution on five (Air, Contour, Cubicushion, Silicon Gel, Polyurethan foam) cushions with takutairu sensor for spinal cord injured patients. They proposed some pressure parameters and examined whether these parameters can be used in evaluation of cushions. Proposed parameters are 1)contact area ( pressure is over 10g/cm2), 2)higher pressure area (80g/cm2), 3)maximum pressure value, 4)mean pressure value between left and right ischial tuberosity (diameter is 10cm). As a result of calculating correlation between these four parameters and weight, it becomes clear that correlation between higher pressure area and weight is higher, and differences between these patients are influenced by their weight. As a result of comparing cushions, it becomes clear that Air can effectively distribute pressure for heavier patient.
