This issue of Friday Meeting Transactions has more less the same format as the earlier issue. The feed-back received from the first issue suggests that the reader profiles of the Transactions and the Asia Pacific Disability Rehabilitation Journal are different from each other, with the former being read by field level personnel and used for training, while the latter is appreciated more by academicians and senior policy makers. Since this distinction is fairly clear, it helps us to publish articles relevant to training (the 'How to do' articles) in the Friday Meeting Transactions, while the journal will deal with academic articles (the 'Why does it occur' articles), which are peer reviewed. The desk editor of the Transactions has also volunteered to rewrite the final versions of articles of those authors who find it difficult to present their material in English language. Surprisingly, a large number of requests for the Transactions is from outside India, and thus it is decided to mail a copy of the newsletter to all those who request for it from any country. The mailing list will however be separate from that of the journal, and it is expected that for the time being, about 350 to 400 copies will be printed for those who request for the Transactions.

The current issue of the Transactions has the summary of the different Friday Meeting Transactions, and another section deals with 'Rehabilitation Notes', which are brief essays useful for training, contributed by different authors. The informal style used in these essays will hopefully encourage more authors to write about topics that they think will be useful in the training of CBR personnel.

The Friday Meetings, which are the source for this news letter, have been progressing well. They are attended now by a larger number of people, with more people expressing their opinions about the topics, and have better quality of discussions. There is growing enthusiasm among participants to financially sustain these meetings, that take place on the last Friday of odd numbered months in Bangalore, and as a result, many individuals and organisations who attend, have stretched out to help its organisation on a regular basis. On behalf of the Friday Meeting group, I would like to express our gratitude to all those who have helped us to sustain this effort.
