With the implementation of Law for Supporting Independence of Persons with Disabilities, there is a growing interest in the measures to enable persons with disabilities to fulfill their potential in market economy. However, there remain many challenges in the open employment of persons with disabilities, such as income security, human resources management, adjustment of working time, improvement of working environment, utilization of assistive technologies and coping with diverseness of persons with disabilities. In order to address these challenges, cooperation among companies, nonprofit organizations and public organizations is essential.

In this seminar, we will invite persons involved in this field from the UK and Germany, the countries most advanced in in open employment of persons with disabilities, to learn about social firms which are becoming popular as a form of open employment of persons with disabilities, focusing on multistakeholder partnership, and exchange views with participants engaged in employment of persons with disabilities in Japan.
