AMIS: Adaptive Multimedia Information System

AMIS is an open source DAISY player developed by JSRPD and DFA.

AMIS and SMIL

  • AMIS uses its internal SMIL player to play DAISY's synchronized media contents
  • DAISY/SMIL allows for content representation in audio and text

Adapting SMIL

  • AMIS can show the text in several different ways - large, colorful, and in braille.
  • AMIS can play the audio at different speeds - from 50% slower to 200% faster

Adapting language

  • AMIS can be translated into any language that supports a unicode script
  • Right now AMIS is available in Japanese, English, Hindi, Thai, and Dutch.
  • This year we will offer Malay, Nepalese, and Sinhala (Sri Lanka)

Adapting input and output

  • Joystick
