The aim of the Asia-Pacific Disability Champions Award is to identify individuals within the region who, in the post-2012 era, could:

• Inspire wide support for building an inclusive society for persons with disabilities;
• Develop networks and strengthen links among key stakeholders for mobilizing resources and support to protect and promote the rights of persons with disabilities;
• Help in advocating and supporting the ratification and implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
