In order to achieve employment of people with disabilities, the Support Centers for Employment and Livelihood of Disabled Persons were founded in seven areas across Shiga Prefecture, Kouga, Otsu, Kosei, Kotou, Higashiohmi, Kohoku and Konan. Since then, the centers have aimed to provide livelihood support necessary for disabled persons in cooperation with other various organizations and to promote their employment opportunities by matching the needs of them with those of employers. (The center in Higashiohmi area started to operate in April 2006)
