Persons With Disabilities in Lebanon

・In spite of Law No. 220/2000 issued by the Lebanese Parliament concerning the rights of persons with disabilities and of extensive efforts and resources invested by the Government of Lebanon, LNGOs and INGOs, many Lebanese persons with disabilities (registered and unregistered) remain deprived of their basic rights.

・Estimated number of Lebanese persons with disabilities in a population of 4 million: ~400,000 at a rate of 10%.

・Only 21% (85,000) are registered with MoSA so far. No incentives for registration.

・The distribution of refugees in many Lebanese host communities entails equitable provision of assistance to all in need in these communities. Short of this, tension and animosity between refugees and host communities is expected to expand.
