[MHLW] Working Group Held to Consider Cross-sectoral Training: Employment and Welfare

On 27 September 2021, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) held the first meeting of the Working Group for Building the Training to Equip Basic Knowledge and Skills across the Sectors of Employment and Welfare (hereinafter referred as “The WG"). The WG was set up under the Study Group on Strengthening Coordination between Measures for Employment and Welfare for Persons with Disabilities.

The main purpose of the Study Group is to examine the initiatives to strengthen the links between employment and welfare measures in detail. They published a report on 8 June 2021, which indicated the necessity of training to provide basic knowledge and skills across the sectors of employment and welfare to develop and secure human resources to support the employment of people with disabilities. The WG was organized to discuss specific matters based on the report.

The WG is to address the following issues.

  • The ideal image of those who completed the training
  • Content to be included in the curriculum
  • Requirements for those who are obliged to attend
  • A training system that takes into account the number of people who are obliged to take the training
  • Ensuring opportunities of the training for those who are not obliged to attend.
