On 13 November 2021, the Gunma Prefecture Sports Association for people with disabilities held the eSports Experience Event for Persons with Disabilities  FY2021.

The eligibility of participants is determined by:

• the one holding a disability certificate (physical, intellectual, or mental), or
• those with a disability equivalent to disability certificate holders,
• living in Gunma Prefecture, or
• those using a facility or staying at an institution located in the prefecture, or
• commuting to the prefecture for school/work.

In April 2020, the Gunma Prefecture government established the eSports and the New Content Creation Division in the Industrial Economic Department under the Strategic Sales Bureau, aiming to use eSports for regional development (in terms of people, town, and work) and to enhance Gunma's brand power.

The division organizes sports championships, runs an eSports promotion portal site, and distributes an eSports information program called eSports Stream. This eSports event for people with disabilities is also part of them.
