Ladies and gentlemen,

Welcome to Stockholm and to Norra Latin and this conference on everyone's right to read and to access information.

As some of you know, this beautiful building used to be a school. King Oscar II - the grandfather of my great grandfather - was here at the opening in 1880.

A year ago at A hearing about Dyslexia, I spoke about the struggles that children and adults with dyslexia face every day. In school, at work, but also in their spare time.

The simplest task of reading or writing becomes, in the best case: a hurdle you can pass. But in the worst case: a life time barrier to personal development and growth. I have a strong personal commitment to these issues, since I, myself, have dyslexia.

When I took the initiative to the national hearing in March 2015, my goal was to put the light on the problems that so many people experience.

And today, we are here to talk about solutions. Because, thanks to many of you, there are solutions. Great progress has been made in the field of literacy and accessible information.

If Norra Latin had still been a school today, a student with dyslexia would stand a much better chance of reaching his or her full potential, than just a few decades ago.

But - there is still much work to be done. And this is why we are here today. I hope that you will seize the opportunity to talk to each other, learn from each other, and help each other create a society where everybody is able to take part.
