- General
The system is a functional classification system applicable to locomotor disabilities regardless of diagnoses. Athletes belonging to the categories of amputees, cerebral palsied and spinal cord affected(para-tetra-polio) are allowed to participate in certain events in the Les Autres classification. Therefore the classification code is uniquely defined for each sport. - Basic provisions
The participants in the Les Autres classification must be able to demonstrate a locomotor disability which clearly gives the competitor a disadvantage compared to ablebodied in the particular sport. - Minimal permanent handicap for Les Autres category
The handicap must be permanent(stationary or progressive).
a) Partial or total paralysis of lower limbs:
At least a decrease in muscle strenght of 10 points in the lower extremities when testing on the 0.5 scale grade system(not counting grade 1 and 2). A normal person obtains 40 points in each lower limb. The following muscle functions shall be tested in lower limbs:
b) Partial or total paralysis of upper limbs:- - Maximum Hip Flexion 5 Hip Extension 5 Hip Adduction 5 Hip Abduction 5 Knee Flexion 5 Knee Extension 5 Ankle Dorsiflexion 5 Ankle Plantarflexion 5 Total sum each lower limb= 40
At least a decrease in muscle strength of 20 points in the upper extremities when testing on the 0.5 scale grade system(not counting grade 1 and 2). A normal person obtains 60 points each upper limb. The following muscle functions in the arm and hand shall be tested:
c) joint mobility: At least a permanent restricted movement of 30 degrees in shoulder ,elbow, wrist, hip, knee or ankle joint.- - Maximum Shoulder Flexion 5 Shoulder Extension 5 Shoulder Abduction 5 Shoulder Adduction 5 Elbow Flexion 5 Elbow Extension 5 Wrist Dorsiflexion 5 Wrist Volarflexion 5 Finger Flexion(finger2-5)
at the metacarpo-phalangeal joints5 Finger Extension(finger 2-5)
at the metacarpo-phalangeal joints5 Thumb Opposition 5 Thumb Extension 5 Total sum each upper limb= 60
d) Amputation Minimum 4 fingers amputated.
Note: In amputee based classification minimum amputation is through wrist joint.
e) Anisomelia: At least 7 cm.
f) Back and torso:
Severly reduced mobility or disfiguration of a permanent nature as in idiopatic scoliosis, dwarfism or ankylosis of the spine. - Special medical condition This general minimal handicap might be different in certain events and will be further specified under the actual spotrs event. I.e. anisomelia in swimming 10 cm not 7 cm; a person with reduced sensibility in buttocks are not allowed to take part in sitting volleyball.
NOTE 1: Examples of eligible Les Autres competitors:
In principle all persons with a locomotor disability confirming to article 4.3.1 to 4.3.4 are eligible for competitions.
The following are some examples: Ankylosis, arthrodesis or arthrosis as a major joints. Bechte rew disease(spondylitis ankylopoetca) of severe degree. Barre-Guillain syndrome with permanent paresis/paralysis. Brachial plexus lesions with arm paresis/paralysis. Many congenital conditions affecting the locomotor apparatus for example:
Arthrogryposis, chondrodystrophy (dwarfs), luxatio coxa congenita, dysmelia, phocomelia (if not classifiable according to amputee) or multiple other malformations. Locomotor disabilities caused by any kind of combustions, fractures, injuries to musculoskeletal or nervous system with a permanent disability obs. be aware of minimal handicap cfr. Article 4.3.3.
Further idiopathic scoliosis or spinal ankylosis, partially mutilated hand or feet, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy like Charcot Marie Tooth disease, myotonia. Neoplasms causing a permanent locomotor disability. Para-and tetraplegics and polios. Polyneurotes, syringomyelia, polyarthritis(e.g. juvenile). Locomotor disabilities caused by tuberculosis or other infectious diseases. Hemophilia with locomotor involvement.
Remark The list is meant to indicate the type of competitors that fit into the Les Autres category and is by no means extensive.
NOTE 2 : Example of conditions not eligible for Les Autres:
Down syndrome or mongolism or persons with severely reduced mental capacity. Further persons with heart, chest, abdominal, skin, ear and eye disease without locomotor disability. Competitors not being able to obtain a doctor's certificate to compete because of acute or chronic disease(e.g. infection, hypertension, or using anti-coagulants) rendering sporting activities unadvisable.
- General
- 視覚障害(Blind)―IBSAによる―
- class 1 : No light perception at all in either eye up to light perception, but inability to recognize objects or contours in any direction and at any distance.
- class 2 : Ability to recognize objects or contours up to a visual acuity of 2/60 and / or a limitation of field of vision of 5 degrees.
- class 3 : 2/60 to 6/60 vision and /or field of vision between 5 and 20 degrees.
- 脳性麻痺(Cerebral Palsy)―CP ISRAによる―
- class 1.
- Severe spasticity or athetosis in all four limbs
- Poor functional strength in upper extremities and torso, necessitating the use of an electric wheelchair or personal assistance for regular daily use.
- Can not push a manual wheelchair with their arms or legs at all.
- class 2
Severe to moderate quadriplegic, normally able to propel wheelchair with legs or able to propel wheelchair very slowly with arms. Better upper extremity range of motion than class 1, usually more athetosis prevelent.- Moderate to severe involvement in all four limbs.
- Normally wheelchair bound, can not ambulate without assistance or with extreme difficulty.
- Have poor functional strength and severe control problems in the upper extremities and torso.
- Because of the varying functional abilities within this class, separate track and field events have been developed for the upper extremities and the lower extremities.
- class 3
Moderate quadriplegic or triplegic or severe hemiplegic in wheelchair.- Moderate to severe involvement in two, three or all four limbs, able to propel wheelchair with one or two arms alowly. Consult Class 3 qualifying times for track events.
- Have fair functional strength and moderate control problems in the upper extremities and torso.
- Need. To use wheelchair for regular daily activities but may be able to ambulate with assistive devices over very short distances.
- class 4
- Moderate to severe diplegic. Good functional strength and minimal control problems in the upper extremities and trunk.
- Lower limbs have moderate to severe spasticity.
- May be able to walk short distances with use of aids, but need wheelchair for regular daily activities.
- class 5
Moderate diplegic, severe to moderate hemiplegic who ambulates without wheelchair in regular daily activities. May or may not use devices to assist ambulation. CP-ISRA defines assistive devices as ambulatory support devices such as crutch(es), walker(s) or cane(s)
Braces are not considered assistive devices.- Both lower limbs have moderate spasticity causing difficulty with walking.
- Right or left arms or legs may have moderate spasticity causing difficulty with walking.
- Diplegics have good functional strength and minimal control problems in upper extremities.
- class 6
Moderate to severe quadriplegic athetoid, ambulating without walking aids. Athetosis is present in this class.
There are also instances of spasticity being present.- Moberate to severe control problems in three or all four limbs.
- Walk without assistive devices during daily activities.
- Please note that Class 6 always have more control problems in upper extremities than a Class 5, while Class 6 competitors have better function in lower extremities.
- class 7
Moderate to minimal hemiplegic or moderate to minimal triplegic or quadriplegic.- Moderate to minimal spasticity in one half of body, or moderate to minimal spasticity in three or four limbs.
- Walks without assistive devices but spasticity in lower limbs may cause limp when walking.
- Good functional ability in non-affected side of hemiplegic.
- Split classes do occur occasionally in field events depending upon the degree of involvement of lower extremity in relation to the degree of involvement in upper extremities.
- class 8
Minimal handicapped group- May include a minimally affected hemiplegic, monoplegic, or very minimally involved quadriplegic.
- If an abnormality in a limb is only detectable upon a detailed neurological examination and there is no impairment of function obviously present, then this person does not quality for CP-ISRA Games.
- Able to run and jump freely. c. May have minimal loss of full function caused by incoordination.
- class 1.
- 麻痺(Paraplegia)―ISMGF―
Competitors in the I.S.M.G.F. games and games held under their patronage or under their rules are divided into classes according to the level of their lesion as follows:- CLASS 1A Upper cervical lesions with triceps not functional against resistance(i.e. test grades 0-3 inclusive)
- CLASS 1B Lower cervical lesions with good or normal triceps power (i.e. test grades 4-5), wrist extensors and flexors, but having no finger flexors or extensors of functional value(i.e.below grade 3 on the muscle test scale).
- CLASS 1C Lower cervical lesions with good or normal triceps, strong finger flexors and extensors to power 4 on the muscle test scale but having no interosseous or lumbrical musculaure of functional value(T1 inervation).
- CLASS 2 Below T1 to T5 inclusive having no useful balance when sitting.
- CLASS 3 Below T5 to T10 inclusive, with abiliy to maintain balance when sitting, ignoring lower abdominal muscles of non functional strength (grade 1 and 2 on muscle test scale).
- CLASS 4 Below T10 to L3 inclusive, provided that quadriceps power is non functional (muscle grade 1 and 2).
Point score lower limbs 1 to 20 inclusive (Traumatic).
Point score lower limbs 1 to 15 inclusive (Polio). - CLASS 5 Below L3 to S2 inclusive provided that quadriceps power is grade 3 and above.
Point score lower limbs 21-40 inclusive (Traumatic).
Point score lower limbs 16-35 inclusive (Polio). - CLASS 6 Point score lower limbs 41-60 inclusive(Traumatic).
Point score lower limbs 36-50 inclusive (Polio).
a.NOT ELIGIBLE FOR ENTRY INTO THE COMPETITIONS
Point score lower limbs 61 and above (Traumatic).
