Provision of Accessible School Textbooks in DAISY Format for Pupils with Print Disabilities in Japan

・Information Center, JSRPD has been providing school textbooks in DAISY multimedia format to pupils with print disabilities (reading disabilities) in cooperation with the network of volunteers and non-profit organizations since 2008 after a long struggle to revise the copyright law.

・Target : Any pupil who has reading disabilities at Elementary and Junior high school in Japan.

・A government research grant to JSRPD covers a small portion of the production cost since 2014 - still not enough.

・Ensuring equal access to compulsory education textbooks by the target group to implement CRPD.
