AMIS: Adaptive Multimedia Information System

AMIS is an open source DAISY player developed by JSRPD and DFA.
AMIS and SMIL
- AMIS uses its internal SMIL player to play DAISY's synchronized media contents
- DAISY/SMIL allows for content representation in audio and text
Adapting SMIL
- AMIS can show the text in several different ways - large, colorful, and in braille.
- AMIS can play the audio at different speeds - from 50% slower to 200% faster
Adapting language
- AMIS can be translated into any language that supports a unicode script
- Right now AMIS is available in Japanese, English, Hindi, Thai, and Dutch.
- This year we will offer Malay, Nepalese, and Sinhala (Sri Lanka)
Adapting input and output
- Joystick
