Management by Delegation

Decide anew for each task: Do I necessarily have to perform this task myself, or could it just as well (or even better) be done by a member of staff?

Also delegate mid- and long-term tasks of your area of work, that could motivate staff members and help them to develop new skills.

Delegate not only to your own staff, but also to other departments as well as internal and external services.

Select staff members whom you would like to promote, or who should gather more experience. However, only delegate to persons who are able and willing to master the task at hand.

Always delegate the task together with the necessary competencies and responsibilities.

Make sure you delegate complete tasks, and that the tasks is completely grasped.

Do not delegate important jobs such as defining organisational goals or strategic planning. On all account, confidential business should also be done by yourself.
