On April 1^st, 2021, MLIT started the "Promotion of the Appropriate Use of Parking Spaces Reserved for People with Disabilities”. In May 2020, the "Act on Promotion of Smooth Transportation, etc. of Elderly Persons, Disabled Persons, etc." was amended, and it became the responsibility of the national and local governments and facility providers etc. to make the use of barrier-free facilities as smooth as possible for those who need them. In conjunction with the enforcement of the revised Act, MLIT aims to promote the appropriate use of such facilities through the abovementioned initiative. The promotion will continue all year round, with an intensive period from April 1^st to May 9^th 2021.
