On October 21^st, 2020, the MLIT held the first meeting of the "Exploratory Committee to Promote Mobility Support for Pedestrians Through ICT" in fiscal year 2020. The committee has been working on the development of data networks for pedestrian space, and the collection and update of information regarding disabled access. This information will be shared as open data for private enterprises, etc. The Committee will deliberate measures to develop information related to disabled access in collaboration with local governments and other stakeholders in different fields. The agenda of the first meeting was as follows.

1. Preparation for the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games
2. Demonstration of the development of data networks regarding pedestrian spaces
3. Improvement and update of the details of disabled access in collaboration with those in the education field
4. Sharing and utilization of information on disabled access
5. Future direction of the initiative
6. 2021 budget request
