[MLIT] The Review Committee on Ideal Parking Facilities for Wheelchair Users Held

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) held the first meeting of the Review Committee on Ideal Parking Facilities for Wheelchair Users on 25 August 2021.

Parking facilities for wheelchair users are one of the basic infrastructures to realize an inclusive society. Therefore, there is a need to improve parking spaces and promote appropriate use. Thus, the MLIT set up the Committee to examine the current situation of efforts with parking facilities from tangible and intangible aspects and study future measures.

The members include academics, disabled people's organizations, business organizations, parking organizations, local authorities, the MLIT (Policy Bureau, Housing Bureau, City Bureau, Roads Bureau, etc.), and relevant ministries and agencies. The chairperson is Professor Emeritus Gihei Takahashi of Toyo University. Disabled people's organizations include the National Federation of Organization for the Physically Disabled Persons, the Spinal Injuries Japan, and the DPI Japan Conference.
