From December 17 - 20, 2021, the 41st National Vocational Skills Competition for Persons with Disabilities (Abilympics) was held at Tokyo Big Sight. It was organized by the Japan Organization for Employment of the Elderly, Persons with Disabilities and Job Seekers under the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW). For COVID-19 control, this year's competition was open to athletes and officials only, with 370 athletes participating in a total of 25 events.
The Abilympics, a term coined by combining the words ABILITY and OLYMPICS, has been held annually since 1972 (except in the year of the International Abilympics) with the aim of improving the vocational skills of people with disabilities, deepening understanding and awareness of people with disabilities among businesses and the public, as well as promoting employment.
The Gold Award winners and the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare Award winners are as follows. In addition, there are also Silver, Bronze, and Effort Award winners.
