On December 6, 2022, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) released the Student Guidance Essentials (revised edition).
The Student Guidance Essentials is designed to "provide a comprehensive summary of the theory, approach, and actual teaching methods of student guidance from the elementary school level to the upper secondary school level in line with the changes of the times. It has been prepared as a basic manual for schools and teachers on student guidance" to facilitate a common understanding among teachers and schools when practicing student guidance and to promote organized and systematic efforts.
It was first prepared in 2010 but has been revised for the first time in 12 years to reorganize the basic concept and direction of student guidance and to respond to today's issues, as the environment surrounding schools and student guidance has changed significantly and student guidance issues have become more serious.
