[MIC] A Working Group Held on the Promotion of the Production and Distribution of Broadcast Content

On December 16, 2022, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) held the first “working group on the promotion of production and distribution of broadcast content (WG on broadcasting content)" under the "study group on the broadcasting system in the digital age."

The study group was established on November 8, 2021, to examine the future of broadcasting and the broadcasting system from a medium- to long-term perspective amid the rapid progress of digitization throughout society. The study group includes a "working team on broadband substitution of small relay stations," a "working group on public broadcasting," and a "working group on the promotion of production and distribution of broadcasting contents."

The WG on broadcasting content was established to study how to promote the production and distribution of broadcasting content in the Internet age. At the working group’s first meeting, they made a report on the current situation surrounding broadcast content, and discussed the issues to be explored. Since there has not been much discussion in MIC regarding broadcast content on the Internet, this working group may play an essential role in ensuring the accessibility of broadcast content on the Internet.
