[CAO] Release of Public Opinion Survey Results on Human Rights Protection

On November 15, 2022, a summary version of the "Public Opinion Survey on the Protection of Human Rights (August 2022 Poll)" was released, which has been conducted approximately every five years since 1958 to assess public awareness of human rights protection and to serve as a reference for future government measures.

The survey was undertaken from August 4 to September 11, 2022, using the postal method (distribution by mail, collection by mail, or internet response) among 3,000 Japanese nationals aged 18 and over throughout Japan. The effective collection rate was 51.9%.

It covered (1) the protection of human rights in general, (2) perceptions of individual human rights issues, and (3) possible solutions to human rights issues, including those of persons with disabilities. The questions include “Q10. What issues have you experienced, seen, or heard in relation to people with disabilities that you consider as human rights issues? (circle any number of times)." The results were as follows:
