[CFA] Children and Family Council's Subcommittee on Support for Children with Disabilities

Article 6, Paragraph 1 of the Cabinet Order of the Children and Family Council (Cabinet Order No. 127 of 2023) specifies, "The Council and its committees may establish a subcommittee as they determine. On April 21, 2023, the Children and Family Council decided to establish the following subcommittees:

  1. Subcommittee on Basic Policy,
  2. Subcommittee on Raising Children up to Early Childhood,
  3. Subcommittee on Creating a Place for Children (for children to feel a sense of self-presence and psychological security),
  4. Subcommittee on Science and Technology,
  5. Subcommittee on Social Foster Care and Family Support,
  6. Subcommittee on Child Abuse Prevention Measures,
  7. Subcommittee on Support for Children with Disabilities, and
  8. Subcommittee on Child Poverty Measures and Support for Single Parent Families.

The Subcommittee on Support for Children with Disabilities will conduct a survey and deliberate on their support for such children. The Support Division for Children with Disabilities of the Support Bureau will oversee the general affairs. At the first meeting of the subcommittee, the chairperson and deputy chairperson were appointed, and the secretariat reported on recent trends in the administrative support of children with disabilities.

As for the trends, the Subcommittee was informed of the following:

  1. "Strategic Policy for the Children's Future - Toward its Formulation” for the Realization of Measures to Cope with the Declining Birthrate with its Various Implications" (Cabinet decision on June 13, 2023),
  2. Basic Policy for Economic and Fiscal Management and Reform 2023 (Cabinet decision on June 16, 2023),
  3. Establishment of Subcommittees under the Council on Children and Families (decided by the Council on April 21, 2023),
  4. Planned Formulation of Basic Guidelines for Child Development up to Early Childhood (tentative name),
  5. Research and Study Report on Creating a Place for Children
  6. Reduction of Procedural Burden in the Disability Welfare Field (Review of local rules, etc.).
