I am a teacher of preschool children with disabilities. I make software for the children in my classrooms.* I have also been making table games and activities using IntelliTool?s Overlay Maker since IntelliTools released it on the market.

There are a variety of reasons I use Overlay Maker(R) as my tool in developing these games.

(1) Very simple to use

(2) Resize graphics easily and fast

(3) Add text easily

(4) Make a template and rework the game to meet the individualized needs of children in a matter of minutes.

Some basic principles I use are the following:

  • Make the original game or activity with the most amount of options as possible.
  • When Making a variety of levels of difficulty to the games, start with the original activity and delete and resize the unwanted keys.
  • Use the same graphics for a variety of different types of games and activities. IE: Farm animals for lotto games, board games, memory games, books, mazes, etc.
  • Make games for thematic learning.

This session at CSUN 1998 is a lab session where participants actually experience the making of the games.

These pieces of software are available through SoftTouch, Don Johnston, Incorporated, IntelliTools, Inc., Mayer-Johnson and other authorized dealers.
