[MHLW] The 40th Abilympics held

From 13th to 15th November 2020, " The 40th National Skills Competition for Persons with Disabilities (Abilympics)" took place in Aichi Prefecture.

The Abilympics is a coined word combining ABILITY and OLYMPICS. It has been held every year since 1972 (with the exception of the years in which the international Games are held). The Abilympics aims to improve the vocational abilities of people with disabilities, raise awareness and understanding among the general public regarding disabilities, and promote the employment of people with disabilities.

The event is sponsored by the Japan Organization for Employment of the Elderly, Persons with disabilities and Job Seekers, under the jurisdiction of the MHLW and with the collaboration of the prefecture where the event is held. This time, Aichi Prefecture collaborated on the event. The venue this year was the Aichi International Exhibition Center (Tokoname City, Aichi Prefecture) and 335 contestants competed in 25 events.

The gold award winners and the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare Award winners were as follows. There were also winners of the silver award, the bronze award, and prize awarded for good efforts.
