On November 6, 2020, MHLW held the 1st "Study Group on Strengthening Cooperation in Employment and Welfare Measures for Persons with Disabilities". The study group was established to discuss specific directions for measures necessary to further strengthen cooperation between employment and welfare initiatives. The discussion took place based on the interim report published in September 2020, compiled by the "Project Team for Strengthening Employment and Welfare Cooperation for Persons with Disabilities" within the MHLW.

The main points discussed by the group were as follows.

1. How to build an effective and seamless professional support system
2. How to respond to diverse employment needs, in line with technological innovation and environmental changes
3. Other matters related to this issue

The group is composed of academic experts and members from disabled people’s organizations, facilities for persons with disabilities, labor unions, special schools and local governments, etc.
