[MLIT] Progress Report on Promoting Smooth Public Transportation for FY 2019 published

On November 20, 2020, MLIT published a Progress Report on Promoting Smooth Public Transportation for the fiscal year 2019. All public transportation companies are required to submit a report on their progress in making the environment barrier-free, according to Article 23 of the Act on Promotion of Smooth Transportation, etc. of Elderly Persons, Disabled Persons, etc. (New Barrier Free Act).

The outline of progress during FY 2019 is as follows.

68 units were added in this year

 37,064 units

8,462 units were added in this year

Passenger ship

 48.4%

Approx. 3.5 point increase

 99.1%

Approx. 0.9 point increase

 

* Passenger facilities (railway stations, bus terminals, passenger ship terminals and air passenger terminals) with an average of 3,000 or more passengers daily.
