[MLIT] "Let's touch a 3D pictogram" event held

On November 27, 2020, the Shizuoka National Highway Office, Chubu Regional Development Bureau held an event entitled “Let’s touch a 3D pictogram” in the underground parking lot (Ekipa) in front of Shizuoka Station. Three-dimensional (3D) pictograms are made by adding thickness to regular pictograms in order to help people with visual impairments touch and receive information. The event took place to solicit opinions and impressions from the public about the design of the pictogram and where to put them in public facilities.

This event is a part of their efforts to create public toilets that are friendly to people with visual impairments. The Shizuoka National Highway Office set up these facilities in Ekipa and Mini-no-Eki “Fuji” on a trial basis in 2019. The event was co-sponsored by the Sakura Bridge Association with the collaboration of Shizuoka Design College, Shizuoka City, and TFI Co., Ltd.
