R&D Project Outline: key technologies

We develop the following key technologies:

• SMIL (Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language) Next Generation
  • W3C SMIL WG for Standard Development
  • In collaboration with DAISY Consortium, INRIA and CWI
• DAISY (Digital Accessible Information System) Version 3+
  • Beyond DAISY 3 (ANSI/NISO Z39.86-2005) to integrate SMIL motion pictures
  • In close collaboration with DAISY Consortium
• Object oriented data model development
  • Urakawa Project: joint project of DAISY Consortium, INRIA, CWI and NRCD
• The multimedia technology we develop will be proposed as an open international standard to share the human knowledge and communication for persons with disabilities across the world in line with the plan of actions of the United Nations World Summit on the Information Society.
